India: New Delhi

I just got back from the most amazing trip! I had always wanted to go to India and finally had the chance to go! I went with a small group of Architects and Interior Designers. The first place we went to was the most intense and crowded place of the whole trip... Chandi Chowk. It is a huge market place from the ancient Mughal period. We tried some fresh samosas and amazing sweets from the street. We later entered a popular temple dedicated to a late Guru… barefooted! It is tradition and curtesy to take your shoes off, wash your hands and feet with water and cover your head before entering the temple. Once we were inside, the music and chanting was so calming!

Our second day we went to an old Mosque in Ancient Dilli. Khiki Mosque was built in the Medieval ages in India. There are four open courtyards and 180 structural columns, which run in north–south direction and divides into aisles. The roof is flat with 81 domes raised from above in which we climbed up to see the view. Later that day we all got henna tattoos. It was New Year's Eve that night so we had a traditional India party! We dressed up in beautiful sarees, had dinner on the floor and ate with our hands and danced what seemed to be all night long! It was such an incredible experience!
